Customers must have a California address and your vehicle must be registered in the state of California. If the customer is also a business, the physical location of the business must be in California. 


How is the California Clean Fuel Reward applied?


Receiving the California Clean Fuel Reward is simple! Participating retailers will include the reward in the sales transaction when purchasing your new vehicle. During the process, you'll be asked to sign the Program Customer Agreement. To get an idea of what you'll be signing, review the Customer Agreement to get started.

The California Clean Fuel Reward is a California statewide electric vehicle time-of-sale (or lease) incentive program funded through the California Air Resource Board's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). The program is administered by Southern California Edison Company on behalf of all participating Electric Distribution Utilities. The California Clean Fuel Reward is available to anyone who resides in California and purchases or leases a new eligible vehicle from a participating retailer. The objective of the program is to help California reach its carbon reduction goals by incentivizing retail customers seeking to purchase or lease a new vehicle to choose an electric vehicle by providing a time-of-sale discount on eligible vehicles.

Battery Electric (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) light-duty vehicles with a battery capacity of 5 kWh or greater are eligible for the California Clean Fuel Reward.

The reward is offered on a sliding scale, depending on battery size, up to $1,500. Vehicles must be purchased at a participating retailer. Find a retailer near you.

California Clean Fuel Reward recipients may not be eligible to receive other utility-sponsored LCFS rewards, such as the SCE Clean Fuel Reward, PG&E Clean Fuel Rebate, or SDG&E Limited EV Purchase Credit. Please visit specific utility websites for more details on eligibility of specific programs.
